Report Finds That SNFs Insurance Claims Are Lower than Assisted Living

Last week, CNA Insurance released its annual Aging Services Claim Report, which includes quantitative findings and risk insights into insurance liability claims for aging services. The report found that skilled nursing settings had a lower average cost of insurance liability claims by more than $20,000 compared to assisted living. Assisted living had an average cost of $267,174 while SNFs had an average cost of $245,559. Resident falls made up 36.1% of falls in SNFs with 59% of falls involving a resident with a prior history of falls.
