Proposed Bill Could Increase New York Nursing Home Oversight

New York lawmakers have proposed a bill that would enhance the state’s long-term care ombudsman program. If Gov. Kathy Hochul approves the bill, nursing homes and long-term care facilities will have to publicize ombudsmen visits and types of complaints received by the regional offices. Additionally, the state office will have to include in its annual report to the legislature additional information about fraud and instances of abuse.
