On June 12, a bipartisan group of Senators “reached a deal” to address gun safety measures following the school shooting in Texas. Though the proposal has not been written into legislation just yet, it includes money for states to implement “red flag” laws, expanded background checks, and money for school safety and mental health resources. At the moment, this agreement has the support of 20 senators, 10 of whom are Republicans, which means a final bill could overcome a filibuster.
