Marc Sporn, the Florida owner and operator of several telemarketing and telemedicine companies, including CPL Media Group Inc. Medipak, LLC, Real Time Physicians LLC, 24 HR Virtual MD LLC, Medtech Worldwide Inc., New World Holdings Inc., and Ins Cov LLC has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for defrauding Medicare out of as much as $20 million dollars, committing wire fraud, and failing to pay more than $4 million dollars in income taxes. According to court documents, he used these companies to lure Medicare beneficiaries into getting medically unnecessary genetic tests, and to sell prescriptions to laboratories for medically unnecessary genetic tests in exchange for bribes and kickbacks. He also used other companies, including Medi Biotech LLC and Walmol Holdings LLC, that he operated and controlled to market compounded prescription creams to clients who had certain conditions; he was paid kickbacks by the associated pharmacies that filled the prescriptions. In addition to the prison term, Sporn has been ordered to make restitution to Medicare and the IRS.
