On July 12, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu announced a $54 million settlement agreement with two defendants in the city’s landmark trial against opioid manufacturers. On the eve of closing arguments, Allergan and Teva agreed to pay San Francisco $34 million in cash and provide the city with $20 million worth of Narcan, an overdose reversal drug. Allergan and Teva have now been severed from the trial, and closing arguments proceeded against Walgreens, the remaining defendant.
