Meta Sued for Allegedly Sharing Patient Data Without Consent

Meta Platforms, Inc, formerly known as Facebook,has been sued for allegedly sharing sensitive health data collected from healthcare providers’ online portals. The lawsuit alleges that, through the use of the Facebook Pixel tracking tool, sensitive patient information is tracked and shared with Facebook without patient consent. The lawsuit further alleges that, to date, Facebook has obtained patient data from the web portals of at least 664 hospital systems and medical providers.  The complaint seeks class action status, compensatory and punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees.
