Do Medicare Enrollees Really Prefer In-Person Visits to Telehealth?

Telehealth coverage has been widely used during the pandemic.  And it’s not just seniors who are utilizing telehealth more. Surveys show about 73% of the population plans to continue utilizing telehealth, even after the pandemic. That number has increased from 58% in 2020.  , If U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Todd Young get their way, telehealth may not only be widely available for two more years, but potentially may be expanded further.  The Senators recently introduced a bill that would permit CMS to continue coverage of telehealth services for two more years, while allowing Congress to examine the efficacy of telehealth during the pandemic and to determine whether, based on those outcomes, the broader access should be permanent.
