On August 16, Naomi Moore, owner of two Houston, Texas-based home health agencies, was sentenced to the statutory maximum of 60 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit and to committing health care fraud. Moore used the names of Medicare beneficiaries who were not patients of either home health care business and were not treated by a physician to submit Medicare claims for $10.7 million in home health services not provided. In total, Medicare paid approximately $6.8 million on the false claims. Moore remains on bond until a date is determined for her to surrender to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
