On July 29, HHS and the DOJ jointly issued Guidance on Nondiscrimination in Telehealth: Federal Protections to Ensure Accessibility to People with Disabilities and Limited English Proficient Persons. Acknowledging the important role telehealth now holds in health care, the guidance reviews the legal obligations of providers to ensure that telehealth is provided in a nondiscriminatory manner and outlines patients’ rights. Practical guidance on the steps providers can take to comply with the laws and examples of discriminatory actions are included. The guidance also includes a list of resources for both providers and patients.
