Sackler Family and States Finally Reach a Deal

A deal has been reached with the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma with a group of states that had objected to the company’s bankruptcy plan and went through two months of court-ordered mediation to reach a new agreement. The settlement requires the Sackler family to pay up to $6 billion to communities that suffered from the opioid crisis, and the Sackler family would see a stop to all current and future civil actions against them over their company’s involvement in the opioid crisis.
