District courts in Missouri and Louisiana have together blocked CMS’ COVID-19 vaccination mandate nationwide. The Missouri decision applies to only the ten states that challenged the rule in that case, while the Louisiana decision resulted in a nationwide injunction minus the ten states in the Missouri decision. CMS’ interim final rule had required mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for all eligible health care workers at health care facilities that are certified under the Medicare health and safety standards known as Conditions of Participation, Conditions for Coverage, or Requirements.
