Johnson & Johnson (J&J) will pay New York $230 million to settle claims against the pharmaceutical company related to and have also agreed to “permanently end the manufacturing and distribution of opioids. J&J also agreed to permanently end manufacture and distribution of opioids J&J still affirms that it never did anything wrong and that the two prescriptions they were selling are no longer in the market. On June 30, Governor Cuomo signed legislation creating an independent settlement fund that requires all monies to be deposited directly into an Opioid Settlement Fund that will be overseen by an advisory board. This legislation will be amended as time goes on to make technical changes to ensure the fund is utilized for treatment, abatement of addiction, education, and prevention.
