Physician Groups Decry AAPA Title Change for Physician Assistants

After the May 24 meeting of its House of Delegates, the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) voted to begin referring to PAs as “physician associates.” This change is causing dismay in physician groups, particularly the AMA, citing this change in PA title will cause an increase in confusion for patients recognizing who is and who is not a physician.
