According to the FBI, Conti has been in involved in at least sixteen health care related cyber-attacks in the United States alone. These attacks involve “911 dispatch carriers, law enforcement agencies, and emergency medical services.” Conti has been further identified as having connections with over 400 other cyber-attacks worldwide. As with many other attacks, Conti employs phishing campaigns to gain access to networks. It then hijacks the networks and posts its demands. There is a strong suspicion that Conti was involved in the May 14 ransomware attack that crippled Ireland’s Health Service Executive.
