On May 10, CMS released guidance for hospitals outlining the new requirements for admission, discharge, and transfer (“ADT”) electronic patient event notifications. These requirements originally stemmed from the Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule published on May 1, 2020, and require that hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and critical access hospitals use specific exchange standards to send ADT notifications to applicable primary and post-acute care services providers.
