Congress introduced another bill targeted at expanding telehealth coverage for mental health and substance abuse services. Just last week, Senators Tina Smith (D-MN) and Lisa Murkowsky (R-AK) introduced S 660, which is aimed at requiring parity in the coverage of mental health and substance use disorder services to enrollees in private insurance plans through both in-person and telehealth. This new proposal follows the introduction of the Telehealth Response for E-prescribing Addiction Therapy Services (TREATS) Act, which supports the expansion of telehealth services for substance use disorder treatment. The TREATS Act was reintroduced last month in the Senate and in the House just last week.
