Patrick Wolfe, owner of a durable medical equipment company known as Wilmington Island Medical Inc., admitted to paying kickbacks in return for leads which were in actuality signed orders from physicians and nurse practitioners, and then billing those orders to a Medicare Advantage Plan. The Medicare beneficiaries involved were located in the Southern District of Georgia and elsewhere. Wolfe was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, and was ordered to pay almost $550,000 in restitution. After completion of his prison term Wolfe must serve three years of supervised release.
