Long Term Care Industry to Lose $94 Billion from 2020-2021

The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) projected that the long term care industry will lose $94 billion from 2020-2021. Beginning last year, nursing homes have faced increased expenditures and declines in occupancy. AHCA/NCAL estimates that more than 1,600 nursing homes may close this year if they are not provided immediate assistance. AHCA/NCAL is requesting that Congress allocate $20 billion to long term care services and support through a Federal Medicaid Assistance Percentage or the Provider Relief Fund.
