AHIP in Favor of LTSS for Managed Medicaid Enrollees

LTSS is not, as some may think, a medical service Rather, it is more akin to transitional care.  LTSS, which stands for Long-Term Services and Supports, are services some managed Medicaid states require of their contracted Managed Care Organizations (“MCOs”).  These services assist members with necessary daily activities, such as meal preparation for a newly diagnosed diabetic, or assisting members learning how to take medication.  AHIP recently published a report calling for managed Medicaid states to ensure this type of coverage for the MCO membership, with the idea being to bring down the number of readmissions, and help with the increasing cost of healthcare in this country.  For more information, click here
