Members of Congress eagerly anticipate VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) system launch this month, but they have concerns about interoperability. EHRM is set to launch on October 24 at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA. The launch has been delayed three times since November 2019, due to concerns about the interoperability between EHRM and MHS GENESIS, the Department of Defense electronic health record project. One of the EHR tools aims to simplify the scheduling process to ensure efficiency for veterans and their providers at medical visits. Congressional leaders said the VA will first implement its EHR at smaller medical facilities across the Midwest, with a second round of EHR implementation to occur in spring 2021.
