DOJ Press Conference: Opioid Settlement Resolution

The DOJ held a press conference on October 21 to announce that Purdue Pharma LP agreed to an $8.34 billion settlement resolving federal probes into how it marketed OxyContin. The DOJ provided that Purdue will plead guilty to three federal crimes, one count of defrauding the US and two anti-kickback related charges. This settlement does not preclude future criminal prosecution of the Sackler family.
