As of August 24, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued changes to the guidance for Infection Prevention and Control in outpatient hemodialysis facilities for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. These changes call for medical facilities to update screening recommendations to include asking patients about their exposure to others with SARS-CoV-2 infection, updates to universal use of eye protection for all healthcare personnel working in facilities among communities with moderate to substantial SARS-CoV-2 transmissions, additional requirements for protective eyewear in which there is no space between the glasses and the face, and supplementary recommendations for dialysis facilities responding to newly identified patients and healthcare personnel with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
