Vitamin D is known as "the happiness vitamin” because research studies credit Vitamin D with preventing and even treating depression. Vitamin D also plays a crucial role in supporting bone health by helping the body absorb calcium. Many Americans are deficient in this vitamin, so it is important to eat vitamin D rich foods such as salmon, tuna, egg yolks, and some mushrooms.  In addition, your primary care physician may recommend that you take daily vitamin D supplements.
