Gun Violence, Mental Health, and COVID-19

According to Every Town for Gun Safety Support Fund (Every Town), a non-profit dedicated to reducing gun violence, gun violence has drastically increased since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Town found there has been an “[u]nprecedented increase[] in gun sales”, which “combined with economic distress and social isolation due to COVID-19, are intensifying the country’s long-standing gun violence crisis.” With the increase in access to guns and surging unemployment rates, Every Town predicts there could be an increase in gun-related suicides as well as an increase in deaths/serious bodily injury due to domestic violence.
