The New York State Nurses Association (“NYSNA”), New York State’s largest nurses union, filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board on July 7 alleging unfair labor practices by three New York hospitals, New York Prebyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Interfaith Medical Center, and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. The charges seek to compel the hospitals to reveal the number of nurses who have reported COVID-19 symptoms, who have been tested for COVID-19, who have tested positive for COVID-19, and who have taken sick leave since March of this year. The NYSNA asserts that this information is necessary in order to understand what happened during the first urge of the virus and to prepare for a possible second wave.
