With the pandemic worsening, the opioid epidemic has followed suit. While many are focused on the rise in cases of COVID-19, the American Medical Association (AMA) is reminding health care and state officials to not forget about working towards reducing the death rates due to opioid overdose, which may be worsening due to the current pandemic. The AMA has released guidance on how states can continue to combat the opioid epidemic through ease of access to treatment and other program initiatives.
