Dignity Health and Kaiser Permanente Establish Surge Hospital in Response to COVID-19

Dignity Health and Kaiser Permanente, in partnership with the State of California and County of Los Angeles, are establishing a temporary facility, the Los Angeles Surge Hospital.  The hospital is being established pursuant to an executive order authorizing the leasing of facilities during California's declared state of emergency. The hospital will be located in central Los Angeles, on the campus of the former St. Vincent Medical Center, and will increase available beds and expand ICU capacity for COVID-19 patients.  The Los Angeles Surge Hospital is expected to open April 13 with a projected capacity of 266 beds when fully operational.  California will fund the operation of the hospital, with Dignity Health and Kaiser Permanente overseeing management of the hospital.
