Bay Area Hospital to Remain Open During Coronavirus Pandemic

Seton Medical Center, Daly City, California, (Seton) will receive $20 million over the next four years from the State of California to lease beds during the COVID-19 outbreak and avoid closure of the facility. Verity Health System of California, Inc., which owns Seton, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018 to facilitate the sale of Seton and other facilities. After a failed attempt to sell Seton to Strategic Global Management during the bankruptcy proceedings, California stepped in to guarantee Seton remains open. Seton will receive $5 million in the first month, with an additional $2.7 million per month to ensure continued operations of the 357-bed hospital and an associated116-bed skilled nursing facility in Moss Beach.
