VA Reports Five Coronavirus Cases; Increases Screening, Restrictions at Medical Centers

The VA has had five patients test positive for coronavirus, who are all following quarantine procedures in accordance with CDC guidelines. The VA serves more than nine million veterans across the country, half of whom are 65 years old or older, and many with other health conditions increasing their vulnerability to the virus. All patients are being screened for symptoms and recent travel locations. VA locations in highly impacted areas are not allowing children under 12 in their facilities. In addition, the 135 VA nursing homes have closed their doors to visitors.
