Beginning March 19th, NYC Health + Hospitals, New York City’s public health system, will expand COVID-19 testing capacity through a partnership with OPKO Health’s BioReference Laboratories. NYC Health + Hospitals will begin sending tests to BioReference Laboratories and will expand testing capacity by 5,000 tests per day. Importantly, results can be produced within 1-2 days, reducing turnaround time from private reference labs by half. The parties will prioritize testing for those with a serious illness at hospitals and health care facilities across the NYC Health + Hospitals network, frontline health care personnel, and first responders.
