Stolen Laptop Exposes Data of 654,000 Patients

Health Share of Oregon, Oregon’s largest Medicaid coordinated care organization, is notifying 654,000 patients that their personal and health data has been exposed from a stolen laptop. According to Health Share, the laptop was stolen from GridWorks, a contracted non-emergent medical transportation vendor, whose offices were broken into on November 18, 2019. Although the laptop did not contain personal health histories of patients, the laptop did contain patient names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and Social Security and Medicaid ID numbers. Health Share is offering affected patients one year of free credit monitoring and identity restoration services, but could not confirm whether the person(s) who stole the laptop found or used the patient information.
