The VA’s new Electronic Health Records (EHR) system that was projected to roll out in March has been delayed. The VA has delayed scheduled training for its staff on the new system. Currently, new veterans have to bring physical copies of their medical records with them when they are seeking treatment. The new system would change this, as well as streamline other VA record keeping processes. A new date has not been announced for the system launch, but VA leaders are still working to have the system implemented everywhere by 2027. The VA’s budget proposal for 2021 would double the funding and dramatically increase staff for the EHR system.
