Purdue Pharma Involved in Opioid Kickback Charges

Purdue Pharma LP, oxycontin maker, was outed as the unnamed company in criminal charging documents filed in a “probe of illegal kickbacks from drugmakers”. Purdue is facing new charges in connection with a Vermont case against San Francisco electronic health records vendor Practice Fusion, Inc.  Court documents allege that the vendor received about $1 million in illegal kickback from an opioid company identified as “’Pharma Co. X’”. Sources close to the matter have identified that “Pharma Co. X” referred to Purdue Pharma. On January 27, Practice Fusion agreed to pay $145 million to resolve all criminal and civil allegations that it solicited and received kickbacks from several drugmakers” to boost sales of their products.
