On January 27, the Department of Defense (DOD) published a new list of nearly 150 locations where tactical herbicides and their chemical components were tested, used, or stored outside of Vietnam. While there are some new additions to the list, more than 40 of the locations that were included in the 2018 list are missing from this publication. It is crucial that this list remain inclusive of all exposure locations to assist veterans impacted by Agent Orange-related illnesses in filing claims and receiving benefits. The VA relies on information published by the DOD to determine where veterans may have been exposed. Some of the locations that have been removed were previously considered verified; however, the DOD says the new list was developed using stringent criteria and will be updated as “verifiable information becomes available.”
