The VA announced this week that Veterans can now enroll in the popular Million Veteran Program (MVP) online. The program is a voluntary research initiative that strives to improve the lives of veterans by studying how various genes affect their health. By enrolling in MVP, veterans allow access to their medical records for research purposes, answer surveys about their health, and agree to provide a blood sample. The data will be used to determine how best to prevent and treat various ailments common among veterans, including PTSD, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and suicide. The launch of online registration for MVP will also allow a veteran already enrolled in VA healthcare to access their personalized profile online and learn more about the program. The MVP already boasts 775,000 veteran partners from all 50 states.
