San Francisco Mayor London Breed unveiled a $200 million plan, entitled “UrgentCareSF” to tackle the mental health crisis in the city. The plan intends to expand housing for people in San Francisco suffering from homelessness, substance abuse disorder, and psychosis. Under this plan, the money will be used to expand access to services including case workers, creation of sobering centers, and the addition of about 800 new treatment beds. In addition, the city will also acquire board-and-care facilities that provide long-term mental health treatment beds.
