Opioid Trial: Efforts Persist to Hold Sackler Family Accountable

According to the Associated Press, terms of the settlement agreement between Purdue Pharma and more than 500 local governments have been heavily criticized, as it was discovered that the company funneled nearly $13 billion to the Sackler family. Recent filings objected to the company’s request that lawsuits against members of the Sackler family be stayed. Many believe the settlement does not adequately hold the family accountable; therefore, the cases against the family should continue while the company’s bankruptcy case proceeds.
