Southern California Doctor Found Guilty in $12 Million Medicare Fraud and Device Adulteration Scheme

A southern California doctor was found guilty for his role in a $12 million scheme that provided medically unnecessary procedures to Medicare beneficiaries, upcoded claims submitted to Medicare, and re-packaged single-use catheters for reuse. At trial, evidence was presented that Dr. Donald Woo Lee of Temecula, California recruited Medicare beneficiaries to his clinics, falsely diagnosed them with venous insufficiency, and provided vein ablation procedures that were medically unnecessary.
