Opioid Companies Issuing Stronger Medications

The Associated Press analyzed “drug distribution data...as a result of lawsuits against the industry” and determined that the potency of opioids being distributed has increased. States claim that these companies violated DEA policies by shipping “larger than normal” orders to patients, and that drug makers “overstated the benefits of opioids and downplayed their addictiveness” to physicians, pushing physicians to prescribe to more patients and at a higher dosage.
