On July 30, 2019, CMS unveiled the "Data at the Point of Care" (DPC) pilot program, intended to bridge the data gap by leveraging Medicare's Blue Button data and provide clinicians with access to claims data. The claims data will fill in information gaps for clinicians, giving them a more structured and complete patient history with information, such as previous diagnoses, past procedures, and medication lists. Medicare's Blue Button is a tool that allows Medicare patients to download their health records and save the information digitally. The DPC pilot program will allow clinicians to access the DPC pilot data directly within their workflow without needing to log into another application.
