$17.2 Billion Requested by Oklahoma in Johnson & Johnson Case

According to CNN, in the highly monitored case of Oklahoma v. Johnson & Johnson, the state has implored presiding Judge Balkman to grant a “$17.2 billion verdict to create an abatement plan that would fund the government programs for over 30 years” to assist in ending the opioid epidemic. If granted, this could be the largest verdict in a bench trial and could be the first to “recognize the nuisance theory in the opioid context.’”
