Opioid Litigation Updates

The  Wall Street Journal reported that six additional states – Kansas, Iowa, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin – have filed lawsuits in state courts against OxyContin manufacturer Purdue Pharma, bringing the total number of states who have brought suit against opioid makers to 44, along with over 1700 local municipalities and Native American tribes.  The first opioid trial began this week in Oklahoma against Johnson & Johnson. The state has already settled with Purdue Pharma and Teva.
