A recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine raises concerns about how physicians are interpreting 2016 CDC opioid prescribing guidelines. According to the authors, some patients who should be using prescription pain medications have not been receiving them or have had their regimens restricted or eliminated due to misapplication or inappropriate interpretation of the prescribing guidelines.
