Tennessee Nursing Home Chain Settles for $18M

DOJ announced on Feb. 27th, 2019, in what was asserted to be the largest worthless services resolution in Tennessee history by a nursing home chain, that Vanguard Healthcare LLC, and related entities agreed to pay more than $18 million to settle a complaint by the US and the State of Tennessee resulting from  billings that the governments asserted were for grossly substandard nursing home services.  The settlement agreement also resolves claims against two individuals, William Orand, the CEO of Vanguard and its majority owner, and Mark Miller, a former operations director.
