Chair’s Column: Winding Down My Year as HLS Chair

I will be headed to Chicago in a few days for the ABA 2024 Annual Meeting, where I will attend my last Health Law Section Council meeting as Chair of the Section. This is the meeting where I pass the torch to incoming Chair, Matt Fisher. It was a pleasure working with Matt this year, and I am excited to see what is in store for the Section under his leadership. For those who attended the HLS Leadership meeting in Denver last month, we got a glimpse into Matt’s leadership style and his vison and theme for the year: “Story-Telling.” Congratulations, Matt! 

As I reflect on the bar year, I am so thankful for all the hard work of the volunteer leaders. I also want to thank my fellow Officers, Kathy, David, Lisa, Denise, Jeff, Hilary, and Robyn. Thanks for all your support and helping navigate some tough issues.

It was also a pleasure to serve with Council Members Jessica, Kenya, Joe, Tommy, Elizabeth, and Bill. We had great debates and lively discussions all year. Diversity of thought was very present at each meeting.

Last, I want to thank ABA staff, Simeon, Danielle, Ally, and Alyssa. Thanks for making my job as Chair much easier. I’ll see you in Chicago!
