The first day of spring is around the corner. I cannot believe we are more than halfway through my chair year. It has gone by faster than I expected.
The spring equinox will occur on March 19 this year because 2024 is a leap year. It marks the first day of spring and the instant when the sun sits directly over the Earth’s equator. The northern and southern hemispheres share the sun’s rays equally, and night and day are the same length. The cool thing about the equinox is that no matter where we all are on the planet, every one of us experiences the equinox at the same time. It is time to look forward to sunshine, longer days, fresh air, and spring flowers.
As lawyers, it can be easy to get caught up with never-ending client demands and deadlines. But it is important to remember to take in the fresh air and try to balance work and life outside of being a lawyer. I plan to spend more time outside in the fresh Michigan air, hoping not to have a rainy and windy April. Being outside always makes me happy and calms my mind when I have a lot of client demands. I plan to spend as much time as possible doing outside activities, like running, walking, hiking, and tennis. I hope all of you take the time to enjoy spring and take in the fresh air.
I look forward to seeing you April 3-6 in NOLA at the Emerging Issues in Healthcare Law Conference. Until then, remember to take the time to enjoy the little things like longer days and spring flowers.
