As many of us can surely relate, practicing law is challenging and stressful, and this is particularly true during the holiday season. Balancing work deadlines, client demands, family obligations, and holiday social events, all while trying to enjoy the holidays, can be so hard.
However, it is important to take time to enjoy, relax, and re-energize for the new year.
For me, something I love to do during the holiday season is partake in infusing alcohol, so I can give homemade concoctions out as gifts to my friends. I got into the infusion business because of my dear friend and former HLS Chair Jay McEniry.
This year, I have decided on lemon-and-rosemary-infused gin, grapefruit-infused vodka, cranberry-orange-infused vodka, and orange-infused bourbon. This may seem silly, but I love the process of looking up new recipes, tasting the results, and coming up with creative new cocktails to share with family and friends. Bottling the infusions and coming up with creative labels to share with others makes me smile.
I also take time during the holiday season to fit in a few extra tennis lessons. I am foolish enough to play outside year-round, despite the fact I live in Michigan. Playing in sub-30-degree weather has its challenges, but it’s so exhilarating to breathe in the fresh crisp air.
Enough about me. I hope you take time to do something you enjoy during the holidays.
I look forward to what the new year will bring and wish everyone happy holidays and a prosperous and joyous new year!
