On March 29, 2018, the Attorney General of California filed an antitrust action against a hospital chain, Sutter Health, alleging that Sutter engaged in anticompetitive conduct in violation of the Cartwright Act,1 California’s principal state antitrust law. “Sutter Health is throwing its weight around in the healthcare market, engaging in illegal, anticompetitive pricing that hurts California families,” stated the California Attorney General in his press release.2
