Survey Shows Three Out of Four Texas Nurses Experienced Violence, Sexual Harassment, or Verbal Abuse in the Past Year

According to a survey by the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Center for Nursing Workforce Studies, violence against nurses has increased since 2016, with respondents reporting physical assaults in the last year rising from 25% to 35% and sexual harassment from 23.5% to 33%. Hospital nurses face the highest risk, with over 90% experiencing workplace violence during their careers, causing approximately 40% to consider changing jobs and about 25% to opt for a different profession.
