A class action lawsuit has been filed against Kettering Health in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Dayton, Ohio following a May 20, 2025 data breach where hackers stole 730,000 files of patient data. Kettering Health attributes the attack to Interlock, a group that has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks on American healthcare companies.

The law firm seeking to represent the putative class of impacted patients has said that over 200 people have contacted its office, with many claiming they are unable to access medical records or fear their stolen personally identifiable information could be used to harm them in the future. Some patients allegedly report that they are missing appointments and treatments they need due to the breach. The attorneys allege that Kettering Health failed to properly notify patients of the breach in a timely fashion, which they are required to do. As of the time of publishing, Kettering Health has not commented on the pending litigation.
